MOS 2611 Cryptologic Digital Network Tech Marine Job

MOS 2611 Cryptologic Digital Network Tech Marine JobMOS 2611 Cryptologic Digital Network Tech Marine JobCryptologic digital network analysts in the Marine Corps are tasked with analyzing and collecting digital network signals for intelligence purrumliche lages. Its up to them to measure, evaluate and classify such signals, as well as provide support for traditional signals intelligence (SIGINT) gathering. The Marine Corps considers this a necessary military occupational specialty (NMOS), meaning it is not entry level. A Marine interested in this job must hold another MOS, usually in the signals intelligence field before he or she can be appointed to this job. The Marines categorize this job as MOS 2611. Its open to Marines between the ranks of master gunnery sergeant and lance corporal. Duties of Marine Cryptologic Digital Network Analysts Solving puzzles and interpreting hidden codes are a major part of this job. These Marines spend their time trying to find hidden messages with in digital signals, be they voice or computer-generated. Consider that the word cryptology comes from the Greek cryptos meaning secret. This job requires a lot of patience and focus since youll end up listening to a lot of noise before you find any signals. Needless to say, if you cant stay on task for a long period of time, this may not be the job for you. In addition to having a keen ear for messages and a lot of patience for listening to hours of signals, cryptologic digital network analysts need to be well-versed in computer hardware and software programs including network operating systems. The duties and tasks for MOS 2611 increase at the rank of staff sergeant and above to include digital network analysis product reporting, information operations planning support, and supervisory tasks and functions. Qualifying for MOS 2611 Marines in this job need a score of 100 or higher on the general technical (GT) segment of the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) test s Theyll need to complete the Basic Digital Network Analysis (BDNA) course, the Marine Corps Cryptologic Computer Administration Program (MCCAP), or complete the Marine Corps Digital Network Operations Program (MCDNOP). Since Marines in this job handle highly sensitive information which could pose a grave threat to national security if it were revealed, they need a top secret security clearance from the Department of Defense. This process involves an investigation of past employers, associates, criminal record, finances and any past drug use, going back ten years. To receive this clearance, applicants need to pass a polygraph exam verifying the contents of the investigation and other information to determine trustworthiness and truthfulness. This job also requires a single scope background investigation and eligibility for access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI). This job is restricted to U.S. citizens. Requalifying for Top Secret Clearance Since this isnt an entry-l evel position and requires a previous MOS to qualify, Marines appointed to MOS 2611 should already have top secret security clearances on file. However, if more than five years have gone by, another background investigation will be conducted to requalify the Marine before they can assume the role of cryptologic digital network analyst.?

How to Know Which Job Boards to Avoid

How to Know Which Job Boards to AvoidHow to Know Which Job Boards to AvoidIf you Google the term job motherboards you come up with more than 15 million results. Not surprisingly, each job board claims to be the 1 place to find your next job. Obviously not every job board can be 1, so we compiled a list of job board behaviors to help you know which job boards to avoid. We will also offer some small advice on choosing the right job boards. If you landsee some of these job board behaviors, be sure to stop using it immediately.1. Job boards charging money to see the company nameEvery website needs a revenue stream, but think about this for a momentYou are not allowed to know the company name and who you might work for unless you pay a fee.It makes one wonder how the interview question will be answered.Interviewer Why do you want to work here? You I didnt. I just wanted to do the work. I found out who you were after I paid to apply. It simply does not make sense. Why pay money for something when you have no idea what you are getting into? If they allow for a free trial, they will benefit if you forget to cancel or shut off auto-renewal payments.2. Gateway websites asking for data before redirecting you to the jobThis one seems to be fairly common. Unfortunately, when you give your data out it usually leads to endless spamming about education courses, webinars, or jobs on other websites. The reality is you can find any job worth its salt on LinkedIn, Google, or a company careers section. You do not need to give away your data to some random startup trying to build a new job board.Does this mean there is an abundance of jobs? No. It means the same job is shared everywhere. BUT...not all of them let you know if the job is still open. That job you tried to apply for by giving away your information to several gateway websites is now going to spam you with false opportunities. You will also find that if you do give your data away, magically a whole bunch of new websites sudd enly start contacting you.notenzeichen Never agree to let these job boards send you opportunities that match your profile. Why? These are typically promoted jobs that everyone else will be receiving.3. Job boards that do not appear in How did you find us? sectionsIf you had filled out online job applications in the past, you know there is a section of the application that readsHow did you find us?How did you hear about this position?Within that list, you will see the most commonly used websites for employers to find their own candidates. Therefore, if the website you used to find the job is NOT on it, then you should stop using that service. The way you found the job is not currently on the radar of the employer posting jobs, which is a sign the job board is either new or not commonly used.It should be cause for concern anyway that a job you found on a job board does not appear in the list of How did you find us? companies or websites.Safe job boardsThese websites below do not do an y of the following mentioned above. You are allowed to apply and job search without filling out profiles or paying money1. LinkedIn2. Glassdoor3. Indeed4. ZipRecruiter5. Monster6. Dice7. Google JobsIn conclusionTrust your gut feelings when it comes to using job boards. If they seem to take before giving or make demands of you that cause doubt, it is a sign you should avoid it or better, just go to the companys career section to see if the job still exists. As of right now, LinkedIn is the best service for finding jobs largely because you can network easily with individuals at the company of interest. On top of this, 94% of recruiters use LinkedIn to screen candidates.

Reducing Airplane Noise with Nanofibers

Reducing Airplane Noise with Nanofibers Reducing Airplane Noise with Nanofibers Noise pollution can have a serious impact on human health, including noise-induced hearing impairment and disruption of rest. Loud interior noise levels within airplanes are a major issue for pilots, crew members, and travelers. Aircraft manufacturers are eager to decrease the amount of noise in the fuselage and are looking at new methods and materials. They especially want to find engineered compounds that reduce sound and are also lighter weight, which provides the added benefit of reduced fuel consumption.Researchers at Wichita State University have demonstrated that electrospun nanocomposite fibers may be the ideal solution for this problem. As they reported during the Proceedings of the ASME International Mechanical Engineering Congress and Exposition in 2009, associate professor Ramazan Asmatulu, associate professor Mehmet Yildirim, and post-doctorate student Wassem Khan, all members of the universi tys College of Engineering, have discovered that high-surface nanoscale electrospun materials display significant enhanced absorption coefficients at the nanoscale.Electrospun nanocomposite fibers are lightweight, dimensionally stable, porous, flexible, and can absorb high, medium, and low frequencies. The researchers manufactured high-surface-area microscale and nanoscale electrospun fibers using three different polymers polyvinylpyrrolidone, polystyrene, and polyvinylchloride. These polymers were dissolved in appropriate solvents and electrospun at various electrospinning conditions. The two-microphone transfer-function method of the BK impedance tube was used to determine the acoustical properties of the electrospun fibers at different frequencies.Test results showed that the absorption coefficients of the fibers (200 nm to 7 m) were significantly enhanced at the nanoscale, indicates Khan. This may be the result of the higher surface area of fibers providing more interaction with sound waves/air molecules (nanofiber surface areas can be up to 10,000 times greater than for microfibers).Advantages of NanofibersThe diameter of the traditional acoustical fibers is in the range of micrometers (5-100m), whereas nanofibers have diameters ranging from 10 nm to 500 nm. Nanofibers have special characteristics such as large specific surface area, high porosity, flexibility, and extremely low weight, says Asmatulu. These outstanding properties are helpful in obtaining preferable acoustical damping performance.Schematic illustration of the electrospinning process. Image Wichita.eduTraditional sound absorption materials include foams, fibers, membranes, perforated panels, etc. These materials have good noise reduction abilities at the high frequency range, but exhibit few sound absorption properties in the low- and medium-frequency range (250-2000 Hz) in which human sensitivity to noise is fairly high. Therefore materials with excellent noise reduction properties in the low- and medium-frequency range are highly desirable in the acoustical purposes, says Asmatulu. Multi-polymer solutions can be electrospun simultaneously to fabricate various membranes for the sound absorption.Other advantages of electrospun nanofibers are Many can be flame resistant. Physical properties can be enhanced for greater strength, flexibility, etc. They can be electrospun on both composite and metal surfaces. Adhesives can be added into polymers to improve adhesion between the fiber and surface. Electrospinning is an economical and technologically mature method for bulk production.Future PossibilitiesThe aviation industry is currently using traditional materials such as perforated panel, foam, and fibers for noise reduction with limited results. Compared to these traditional materials, electrospun nanofibers exhibit high absorption coefficients at all frequency ranges, which demonstrates that nanofiber membranes are a promising candidate for noise reduction in aircraft, says Asmatulu. The sound absorption coefficient of electrospun fibers is about 100%, even at high frequencies of sound (7,000 Hz). The sound absorption coefficient can be further improved by encapsulating carbon nanotubes in polymer nanocomposites, because Individual nanotubes will oscillate with sound waves, helping to absorb more sound energy, adds Asmatulu.Different polymer fibers such as polystyrene and polyvinylpyrrolidone can be used to fabricate membranes for sound absorption. Similarly, polyvinylpyrrolidone and polyvinylchloride fibers can be used as a membrane for the sound absorption. The fibers from these polymers exhibit outstanding sound absorption coefficients, says Asmatulu. Therefore they can be considered as possible alternatives to traditional materials in aircraft. Other applications for electrospun fibers include automobiles, ships, trains, as well as manufacturing facilities, shopping centers, hospitals and schools.fruchtfleisch Crawford is an indep endent writer.Multi-polymer solutions can be electrospun simultaneously to fabricate various membranes for the sound absorption.Ramazan Asmatulu, associate professor, Wichita State University

Social Media Advice from the DKNY PR Girl

Social Media Advice from the DKNY PR GirlSocial Media Advice from the DKNY PR GirlSocial Media Advice from the DKNY PR GirlIn the crowded social media galaxy, Aliza Licht stands out as a superstar. As senior vice president of Global Communications at Donna Karan International, Aliza is the person behind the DKNY PR GIRL on Twitter which boasts a half a mio followers. Her new book Leave Your Mark Land Your Dream Job Kill it In Your Career Rock Social Media, is published by Grand Central Publishing. The book is a sassy and seasoned guide to the contemporary work world. In a recent conversation, Aliza shared her insights on social media and how companies can create an authentic brand voice.Monster Youve done a great job with the DKNY PR GIRL. I wonder if it was any easier doing that because it is such a fashionable brand and cache.Aliza I think you cant paint the DKNY PR GIRL brush across every brand. Whats right for one company is elendlage necessarily right for another. Before a company or a brand embarks on social media they really need to think about what kind of image they want to portray because social media really has to be a curated version of your best self. The person who is in charge of that social media can really be positive to the company brand or detrimental to the brand. I always advise brands to create a filter first so that they themselves understand what their core brand values are and the types of things that they would or would not be talking about.Monster It sounds like you probably want to mix it up. You never want it to be one thing but you dont want to be schizophrenic.Aliza You hit the nail on the head. The best way to sort of judge yourself is to look back at your own timeline and just think if you werent you, if you were a stranger reading your timeline, what kind of impression do you make?Monster When you first started tweeting as DKNY PR GIRL, you used a fictional persona so it wasnt you that was out there in front of the audience, and t hen later you sort of came out from behind that persona. Why was that important to do at some point did you feel?Aliza The idea to reveal me as the person behind the Twitter handle was really stemmed from other people in the company saying, Okay, all anyone wants to know is who this person is. It became this big mystery and it started to inhibit the brand from participating in social media conferences.Monster Was it difficult when you were then starting to tweet as yourself?Aliza I really kept true to the persona that I had created which really is my personality but of course its much easier to say whatever you want when nobody knows who you are. I really stuck to the program because I didnt want people to turn around and be like, Oh, god now that shes out that handle is terrible, shes not tweeting anything she used to. I really wanted to be true to the voice which is my voice in real life by the way but it just felt much more vulnerable once I came out.Monster Youve been very gener ous in talking about your team, your PR team that helps you do what you do. Im wondering what can you tell us about how you guide them in how to best represent the DKNY brand?Aliza I tend to create a very open work environment where people feel empowered and when people feel empowered they innately feel more passionate. Everyone gives 200%, its just how it is and I do as well. They know theres nothing that they do that I havent done before or wouldnt do again. Its very much that mentality. As far as living and breathing the brand, I think that thats one of the most important things you can do when you sort of look to represent a company in any communications role whether it be PR, marketing or advertising. I think you have to believe in the product. I personally could not do this job if I didnt believe in the product.Monster Do you use or provide your employees with a social media Blue Book or guidelines for the company?Aliza We have a social media policy, of course, and every compan y should have a social media policy in place for their employees. Every employee should read that before they post.Monster How you have recovered from moments where a tweet has gone out and its like, Ooh, should not have said that. Or, Wow look at that reaction. How would you recommend employers navigate that territory?Aliza I always say theres a big difference in saying Im sorry or saying Im sorry but Pointing your blame elsewhere doesnt go over well in social media.People expect brands to take that responsibility and to own that responsibility. Weve seen many, many examples of CEOs who try to sort of point the finger elsewhere when things have not gone their way in their companies.I think they should read my book first of all, but they should really stop doing that because its a self-perpetuating problem. People jump on Its always the David and Goliath story when it comes to brand versus consumer. And I think the number one thing that brands should not do is leave their Twitter h andles in the hands of interns or assistants who are new to the company and dont understand the brand voice, the brand effects, the brand DNA and certainly how to edit what they say.Alizas book, Leave Your Mark Land Your Dream Job Kill it In Your Career Rock Social Media, published by Grand Central Publishing. Aliza Licht graduated the University of Maryland with a B.S. in Neurobiology and Physiology and dreams of becoming a plastic surgeon. After she realized that she couldnt spend a life in scrubs, she decided to pursue her childhood love of fashion and started in the magazine industry. Licht decided to make the jump to fashion public relations in 1998 when she joined Donna Karan International. She is currently the senior vice president of global communications.

What Its Really Like to Work for Elon Musk

What Its Really Like to Work for Elon MuskWhat Its Really Like to Work for Elon Musk All eyes are on Elon Musk. The billionaire SpaceX and Tesla mogul has gone from commended CEO and thought leader to one of the most controversial news topics of late. Musk recently came under fire for his involvement in the Thailand cave rescue. Musks attempt to aid the recovery of a boys soccer gruppe stuck in a cave backfired after the rescue team and the media questioned whether Musks mini-submarine was intended to help the children or Musks public image. Musk went on to engage in a Twitter rant that raised eyebrows. In June, Tesla laid off 9 percent of its employees while reportedly pushing remaining workers to the limit to meet slipping production quotas. The workplace demand became so intense Musk reportedly took to sleeping on the floor of the Fremont, California factory and fueling exhausted workers with Red Bull. While colleagues have voiced their discontent with Musks behavior and work demands, the CEO says the complaints about him are exaggerated and issues in the workplace were swiftly resolved. As Musk reminded Glassdoor in an interview in 2017 , Your title makes you a manager but your people make you a leader. So whats it really like to work for Elon Musk? We turn to employee reviews for SpaceX and Tesla to get the scoop.Musk was rated 49 in Glassdoors 2018 Top CEOs list for his role at SpaceX, and currently holds a 97% approval rating one employee even dubbed him Uncle Elon. He dropped from his position at 8 CEO in 2017, when he received a 98% approval rating. Musk has a slightly lower approval rating in his role at Tesla at 84%.Currently, SpaceX employees give the company a 4.4 rating in Q2 2018 (based on a 5-point scale 1.0=very dissatisfied, 5.0=very satisfied). Tesla employees, however, give their company a 3.4 rating in Q2 2018.Weve binnenseen the numbers. But whats behind an employees day to day? Read recent anonymous employee reviews to see workers opinions on their jobs and their CEO.The bottom line from employees is that while the work environment is intense and demanding, Musk is an inspiring leader in spite of his public antics. Employees are motivated first and foremost by the missions of Tesla and SpaceX, and are less focused on anything outside of disrupting the industry. Looks like Elons innovation trumps his public persona.

Attitude is Everything

Attitude is Everything Attitude is Everything Youre evil spat the womans voice, you should be ashamed of yourself. I had been half-listening to voice mails while also answering emails, but this one got my full attention. How do you live with yourself? she went on taking advantage of all those poor job seekers out there while you lie by your swimming pool soaking up the sun. (Swimming pool?)After some more angry vitriol, the anonymous caller got to the point. She had signed up for our free resume writing course and was angry to learn that, as well as giving away lots of free information, we had stuff for sale. And that we promoted that stuff in several of the free emails.I thought of that angry woman today when I received a very different reaction, this time by email. In the email, a young woman explained that she had taken several of our free courses and read the information posted on our blog. She then rewrote her resume following our advice. Her note continuedI applied for a job as a Community Manager at a company called (name withheld) last week and was offered the job today. I cannot believe it. I am SO HAPPY. They said they were SO impressed with my resume and cover letter. Thank you SO MUCH. I cant thank you enough. It is exactly what I wanted I have recommended your site to one of my other friends looking for work and will continue to spread the stimmt genau where I can Thanks again. Two job seekers, both receiving the exact same emails, but with wildly different reactions and outlooks. Is anyone surprised that the writer of the email has been more successful than the nasty phone caller?Lifes more about attitude than anything elseThe older I get, the more I think our attitude drives much of what happens to us. If we believe the world is out to get us, we will ignore all the good free advice we receive, and focus only on the short promotional message contained in some of the emails. But if were open and receptive to learning, we can read those messages wit hout resentment or anger, and without being certain the books are paying for an unearned luxury lifestyle (theyre not). Instead we can choose to take the free advice, use it and enjoy the results.(If youd like to sign up for the course, you can find it here but no nasty phone calls please)
